About Longleaf
Longleaf School of the Arts will prepare students for college and career pathways via a curriculum that fully integrates academics and the fine arts into all aspects of the school culture. Students will benefit from highly qualified, experienced teachers and a challenging curriculum. Upon graduation from Longleaf, students will be academically prepared for college, and will possess valuable life skills, confidence, and personal responsibility to prepare them for the 21st century.

Maestro Alexander Alberti
Alex Alberti is LSA’s Director of Instrumental Music and Cognitive Development, currently living in Raleigh, North Carolina. In addition to teaching music at Longleaf, he also works with the Middle Creek High School Marching Band, teaching front ensemble and percussion.
Alberti formerly taught at Southern Lee High School in Sanford, where he directed band, orchestra, and chorus, as well as their first ever a cappella program: The Cavalyrics.
He is an alumnus of Appalachian State University, where he holds a degree in Music Education and a minor in Psychology. At Appalachian State, he participated in the ASU Men's Glee Club, wind ensemble, concert band, symphonic band, orchestra, and served as a music theory tutor for the entire sequence of music theory and aural skills courses. Alberti is an active researcher in the field of music theory pedagogy and music education, presenting his findings at NAfME, CMS National, and NCUR.
In his spare time, Maestro Alberti composes both choral and instrumental works, judges for the International Competition for Collegiate A Cappella, and participates in the Durham Chorale. He also enjoys cooking, playing kickball, soccer & dodgeball, and playing with his two cats, Jack and Autumn.
